Marathon

So its finally done. I am really proud of myself for finishing and it was probably the hardest thing I have ever done. Finished in around 4:18. It is really amazing how much I hurt right now, even two days later. Here is a mini breakdown for anyone interested.

Mile 2: Hasn't thinned out much yet, still moving pretty slow

Mile 5: Getting into a nice groove, still have the adrenaline pumping and dont feel at all tired yet.

Mile 6: See my friends wife and other friends gf, which is cool. They had a sign.

Mile 13: Halfway done and don't feel tired yet. I might actually be able to do this easier then I thought.

Mile 15: Uh oh, hit the first wall. Legs starting to get heavy and a cramp in the side doesn't help either

Mile 16: See a ridiculously hot girl on the side cheering. It helps for motivation. She was so fucking hot.

Mile 17: Fuck I have to piss but don't want to stop

Mile 18: Shit i really have to piss

Mile 19: It didn't go away

Mile 20: There's a port o potty, but there is a line, no way I'm waiting

Mile 21: I go in the woods. Once I stop running my legs instantly tighten up and i lose all momentum and the pain is intense.

Mile 22: I'm moving at a snails pace from the pee-stop. I want to stop and walk so bad but wont let myself do it.

Mile 23: Still cant get in a groove, shooting pains start going up my left leg in addition to my knee, ankle, and shins that are both killing me at this point.

Mile 24: Still coasting slowly, only 2 miles left.

Mile 25: Start to pick up the pace a little bit, see some friends and start moving really fast.

Mile 26: One last push and start sprinting

Mile 26.2: Sprint over the line and am done. Muscles instantly tighten up and within a minute i realize that it is in fact freezing cold and notice all the runners are shivering. Grab a free poncho but it doesn't help too much. Grab a bunch of water and a banana that feels like it might come up at any time.

Vegas for New Years!!!!!

Pretty psyched just booked a Vegas trip over New Years, from 12/28/07 to 1/2/08. Lucko will be out there and mackem coming from across the pond as well. Also, WC will be out there with a few friends. Its supposed to be sick for New Years, so I can only imagine. This will also be the first time I am out there for an NFL Sunday so i'm pretty pumped about that.

HAven't played much poker lately but heading to AC Thursday and Friday (11/8-9) so will get to sharpen up and looking like a mini +1 AC meet on Dec. 14-16 for lots of drunken debauchery.

On the running front, just ran 22 miles this morning is about 3 and a half hours. My legs are killing me but the marathon is in 2 weeks so all these ridiculously long runs will be over soon.

20 Miles

So I just ran 20 miles this morning and I think my legs are going to fall off. Probably the hardest thing I've ever done physically in my life, including boxing 6 rounds, wrestling an OT match, Football games, etc. Pretty sick, and i can only imagine what the actual marathon will be like in 5 weeks. Took about 3 and a half hours. I'll probably sore for 3 days but I feel like I can finish the race when it comes.

Running the Atlantic City half marathon next weekend as a training race. Also, finally going to get in some hands of poker since I have barely played in the last 6 weeks because work is still crazy from the start of the year and adjusting to a new school district.

Sat AC trip

Just got home. Did well again. Biggest hand came when I was on the button with blacks 7's. 5 limpers to me, I raise to 20, end up with 6 callers. Flop A 9 7, 2 diamonds. checked to me, i bet 85, guy pushes for about 400 total i call, he has A9. sweet. Ended up about 1200 for i believe my 9th winning 2/5 NL session in a row. Had a tough hand where I three barreled with KK with an A on board and he called me with A4. I really thought I could get him to lay down. Lost about 350 on that hand but recovered.

As for the running, ran 12 miles this morning in 2:06:12. A little slower pace then I would have liked but I didnt want to run ahead of my friend so just stayed with him. That makes for 20 miles even this week.

Also, I went back to work this past week. Just meetings and shit, but the students come back on Tuesday. I wish summer were longer. Oh well, back to fucking reality

Wed AC Trip

Running still going well and this is an easy week with just 3 5 mile runs so not too bad.

Took another day trip to AC yesterday. Started off nice with me doubled within a few minutes against a guy who missed a draw to my 2 pair and still paid me off on the river when his A hit even though he had no kicker. Then a tough hand came up.

I am in the SB with A7. 3 limpers and I call BB checks. Flop Ah Qs 7h. Bingo. I lead out for 20, BB calls, 2 folds, button raises to 120. He has about 260 behind and I have him well covered. I tank for a bit then push him in and he calls and tables AQ. NH. Later on I take a sick beat.

I am the SB with 44. 3 limpers, button makes it 20, I call, BB folds, 2 calls, i fold (90 in pot). Dream flop of A K 4 rainbow. Check to the button who overbets 100, I smooth call, another overcall and a fold. Turn T. check, check, Button bets 250, I push for another 280, one fold (he says AJ) and button calls and tables AT. River T and I am stuck a buy-in early.

I took a few other less bad beats and was down about 950 at one point then i started hitting flops like a champ. I got up to about 2k in front of me and then just started raising about 70% of hands. No one played back at me and i took a lot of small pots and lost a couple small ones where I didn't commit much. Then I look to see AA in UTG + 1. I made it the standard of 20 and get 3 callers. Flop Q 9 2. I bet 50, player to my left min raises to 100, fold fold, I go to 300 he pushes, i call he tables Q 7. It holds and then the table breaks and I leave up close to 2k.

Good day.

10 Miles!

Because of wrobo's wedding this weekend, I decided to do my long run this weekend and just got back from a 10 miler. Finished in 1:40:18 so not too bad and about the pace I am looking for. You know its a long fucking run when you go through 5 towns and pass a ~pro baseball stadium.

In poker news, I unbutso'd myself and deposited $100 on Full Tilt. The plan is to play $25 NL and hopefully get up to $500 and then move up. In 3 days I have doubled my $100 and think I am playing pretty well so hopefully it sticks.

Stupid summer almost over so work is looming over everything. Fuck work

AC Again

Went to AC thursday/Friday with Ryan and JB. Played for about 25 hours straight and the 2/5 table I played at for about 9 hours straight was right out of a wet dream. After donking around with them at a 1/2 table for a few hours and raising every pot, everyone else went to sleep and i went back to 2/5. Preflop raises to 30 would get 6 callers and every pot for a few hours was at least $500. It was a value betters dream. Unfortunately I couldn't get a hand. I got a bunch of SC's and one gappers but never hit the flop and only won about 5-6 hands in 9 hours, and ended up about $150 at the table. Overall lost about $150-200 for the trip but was a good time and i felt i played well and adjusted to the different tables nicely.

On the running note, just ran 9 miles this morning and feel pretty good. Time was 1:28:36.

Running Well Again

Went down to Borgata again last night. Absolutely wild and awesome 2/5 table.

I actually played really tight because in my first 6 hours I didn't get a single pocket pair and no AK or AQ either. luckily i got a lot of suited connectors and one gappers that i hit and got paid off by retards. I was up about 1k and finally looked down to see KK in the BB. A raise in EP to 20 and 5 callers (yeh awesome table) and i popped to 150. 2 callers including the shorty in the SB (about 350 behind). flop 6 6 9 rainbow. SB donk bets 100 and i put him all-in and he has Q6s.

so i'm down to about 1k in front of me when about 20 minutes later i got AA in the SB. UTG raises to 15, 3 callers, I go to 100, BB goes to 250, UTG pushes for about 400 total. I of course push behind and BB folds and shows queens. UTG has kings and the aces hold. got lucky there which is awesome. so shortly after i cash out and go home with about 2300 and gives me 5 straight winning sessions which I am happy about.

Also ran my first long run in my marathon program but unfortunately i ran it in Sparta, NJ with Robby G, and that town has ridiculous hills. I felt like I was running up Everest and am hurting today. Fuck you Rob

Moving, Training and AC!

So I moved this past weekend to a nice house in Somerville. Very happy with the place and has a nice big backyard for the dog. Moving sucks, but luckily its done.

Also This week started my 16 week training for the marathon. Ran a 3 miler on Tuesday and 5 miler on Thursday. First long run is 8 miles on saturday. Exciting I know

Also just returned from AC. I think I played pretty well and was up about 450 playing 2/5 at the Borgata in about a 3 hour session. Then played the $100+20 tourney with a songle add-on. As with most tourneys in AC the play was atrocious. 5k starting stack, 4th hand, 25/50 blinds I riase from MP to 200 with JJ. 2 callers behind. Flop J 8 4 rainbow. I bet 400, gets raised to 1400, one fold, i call. turn K. I check he bets 1500, I c/r all-in he calls with AQ so I double early. I fold JJ the very next hand to an all-in 3 bet preflop.

I get card-dead for a bit and after the break with blinds at 200/400/50 ante, i get jacks again in UTG + 2. UTG limps (standard and stack of about 11k), UTG+1 (absolutely awful player stack 7k) raises to 1k. I RR to 5k, UTG folds, UTG+1 pushes i call. He tables QJo, yes QJo. of course queen on the turn and i am now very short. Later I push to same donks limp with 88 and he calls with KQs and turns a queen again and bye bye dwal. Good cash session and i feel i played pretty well overall and have 4 straight winning live 2/5 sessions so i am back on an upswing.

Good Day in AC

So I finally had a nice day in AC. Sat at 2/5 NL for awhile and didn't play a hand for 2 orbits. A lot of people were limp-folding or calling raises then folding to a c-bet. so I got 95h OTB and raised 3 limpers to $30 (awful i know) BB calls, UTG calls 2 folds. flop came 5 5 4 rainbow which made me happy. BB donk bet $35 and UTG called. I went to $135 BB folds UTG calls. Turn 5. UTG checks, I bet 200 (he had about 260 in front, i had him covered) he tanks for a few minutes then pushes, i call. He tables 77 and i am a happy donk.

Then I proceeded to win a lot of small pots and cashed out for a profit of about 1100. Then I played the 7:15 tourney. This was the worst played tourney I have ever seen. I got no hands for the first 6 levels but played a lot of small pots early, hit a few flops and got a nice stack at the 2nd break of about 35k (10k to start). then I got some big hands and amassed a nice stack and then got card-dead but still came to the Final Table about an average stack. Well got down to 3 and i worked a very nice chop as the short stack and got just about 2nd place money for 2100. I'm an awesome negotiator. then went home and almost ran out of gas because i'm an idiot.

Also I'm moving on saturday which sucks. But its a sweet place with a nice backyard for the dog. Still coming along on the running thing and am going to do 9 miles tomorrow.

Borgata

So made my first AC trip since vegas and wasn't in the mood to play cash games so decided to play the 50k guarantee at the Borgata. Pretty good structure and there were 45 tables, 45 spots paid, and 1st was 34k.

No really tricky hands. Was card dead most of the 5.5 hours I played and saw TT twice and no pair over that. Got down to last 8 tables but was riding a short stack most of the time and then ran TT into JJ when I pushed pre with about 5 BB. 34k would have been nice. Oh well. Good structure so that tourney will definitely be hearing from me again.

Had a nice run today. Did 5 miles then walked for about 5 minutes before doing some sprints. I did 15 second sprints followed by 45 seconds of walking. I did about 15 and then was dead from the combination of the 2. Starting to get mentally and physically back together from Vegas but still behind where I was when i left

Time Off

So after getting beat up a bit in vegas, I took a few weeks off from poker and will get it back going again tomorrow. The tone was set about 3 hours into my trip. I had built my initial $500 stack to about 1450 playing 2/5 NL, when I saw 68 clubs on the button. 2 limpers to me, I raise to $25, BB calls UTG calls. BB is only player that has me covered. Flop is 4 7 9 all clubs. Bingo, flush with OESFD. checked to me, I bet $55, BB raises to 150, UTG folds, I raise to 450, BB calls. He bets $500, I push he calls with a set of 7's. River is a 9 and butso dwal.

So the carnage continues for the next fews days and I am down 4k, almost my whole vegas roll. I am leaving monday afternoon and checked out sunday morning to play a 30 hour session or so until my flight left. Played 2/5 and was close to even after a swingy session of about 16 hours. Then saw a 2/4 mixed game was opening up and figured I'd donk around for a few hours and have some fun. It turned out to be pretty much all dealers from the mgm and me. We played dealer calls for one round at a time, and pretty much all games were played. ALthough it was 2/4, most pots were capped (straddled and then 5 raises on top) preflop 7-8 ways. awesome. so much fun and the staff there was awesome and really cool to play with. I ended up playing this game for about 10 hours it was so much fun and won about $400. (100 BB) Then it was breaking and decided to play in there morning $65 tourney just to kill time before my flight.

It was a push anything awful structure and I got to the FT as the chip leader with less then 10 BB. Long story short, I end up taking it down for about 1700 to limit my losses a bit. All in all a fun trip, although did not compare to last year.

As for running been slacking a bit since I got back, but righted the ship the past 2 days and ran 5 miles and 3 miles respectively. Ran the 3 today in 26:36, so not too bad. Hope to run 9 on sunday and get myself back in full training mode.

Almost Done!

So the real last day of school was today. All I have left is 4 days of finals so I am pretty much done. The sports awards banquet was tonight as well so me and all my basketball players got our state championship jackets so everyone was really happy.

Also, 6 more days until Vegas! Very pumped to get out there and beat up on some of the cash games and possibly play some of the deep stack tourneys at Binions and Venetian.

First Post

OK I'll start this off. I'm a teacher about to be off for the summer and figured I'd write about my exploits on here. It will mostly be about poker and running and about other things that happen in my life that are awesome. Since I'm off for the summer, i'll probably be in AC about 4-5 days a week so i'll have plenty to write about. I'll be more detailed in future posts so here is just an intro

I'll start with my session at the Trop yesterday in AC. Played 1/2 NL for about 4 hours and ended down about $100. I played a few hands awfully, picked off a few nice river bluffs and got sucked out on in a huge pot with a set of 6's to a flush draw. Overall not as awful as it could have been.

Then I decided to play the 7:15 $100 + 20 tourney (1 add-on) . 1st place was 10k. about 110 players. With about 60 players left Blinds were 200/400 with 50 ante. I had 7600 in the BB, villian had about 13k. Folded to button, who makes it 1200 and i look down to see AcKd. I push and get called after he thinks for about a minute. He shows QJ clubs. flop A K 6, turn T, bye-bye dwal. OK enough bad beats.

So I recently decided to run the Philadelphia marathon in November. I have never been much of a runner, but figured why the hell not. So today I ran 5 miles in just under 45 minutes. Not too bad and long run of 9 miles will come sunday morning.

Thats all i got for today.
