Good weekend

Won about 2k playing mostly 8/16 Limit O8 on Full Tilt. Amazing how bad the play is and i wish it was that way all week. Played a few MTT's but couldnt get anything going. Still waiting for a nice cash which hasn't come recently but now that the roll is up a decent amount i will play more then 2 a week so i got that going for me.

On the jog/workout front, I have been pretty hardcore. I decided to run the Atlantic City half-marathon again in October so starting a 12 week training for that tomorrow. I have been pretty much going to the gym every morning and then running or biking every night. Dropped about 10 lbs in july and hoping for 10 more before school starts.

Live FT and 750k

Was down at the Borgata last sunday and made the FT of the 100+20. We ended up chopping 8 ways and I got $1100 so not too bad. I wouldn't have chopped but I was the shorty after losing AT < KQ all in pre. No other particularly exciting hands that I can think of. Those things are pretty much a pushfest after 4 levels anyway. Probably be back there on Friday.

Also made it ~deep in the 750k yesterday. Ended up 173rd for like $580. I just e-mailed support for the HH and will try to post it on Pxf as soon as i get it. I think I played pretty well overall but passed on a few spots late that might have been bad.

Back From Vegas

Had a really good time even though I only hung out with Todd a few times and Stoner once. Freerolled into the 2 events I wanted to play (1500 PLO8 and 1500 HORSE) in a $320 SNG but was all downhill from there. Played the Venetian deepstack 3 times (2 330's and a 550) the Caesars megastack once (225) and the two WSOP events and didnt cash once. I misplayed a few big hands so need to get my tourney game in better sorts these next few weeks to make it a profitable summer. still did ok at cash even though i didn't play a ton of it. Played mainly 4/8 omaha at venetian with a half kill and a little 1/3 NL at Caesars. Also, the IP hooked me up by upgrading me to the penthouse suite which was fucking awesome. SO thanks, IP, its kind of a dump but i will surely stay there again if they continue to hook me up.

My most eventful run was in the Event 51, 1500 HORSE. I always feel like mixed games are usually my best bet, because i feel i play all games very well and am very good at adjusting to the switch in games. In the early levels I did best in the razz levels but never chipped up big until a sick hand came up in the Stud Hi round. I have about 8k in chips and the level is 100 ante, 200 bring-in, 500/1000

I was dealt (KK)4 in seat 5. seat one brought in 2 folds, seat 4 (station that likes to play a lot of hands and talk a lot) calls with (xx)T. I complete to 500. Seat 7 (big stack, new to the table, but had shown the wish to push us around) calls, seat 4 calls. 4th street seat 4 (xx)T3, dwal (KK)4Q, seat 7 (xx)J4. I bet, seat 7 raises, seat 4 folds. I plan to c/r on 5th when the limits double.
5th street. dwal (KK)4QK. seat 7 (xx)J4T bingo. looks pretty for me now. i check, he bets I raise he calls. 6th street. dwal (KK)4QK2. seat 7 (xx)J4T7 (3 diamonds) I figure he might have a flush now but i still have a ton of outs to fill up. dwal bets seat 7 calls. 7th street I look down at all 3 cards and see 3 kings in the hole. I quietly wet myself with excitement with my quad kings without a pair on the board and ~3600 left (KKK)4QK2. So I bet, he raises, I wet myself more and 3 bet and say "I only have 600 left". He says "how sick this is" and puts me all-in. I quickly say quad kings and quickly hear "you aren't going to believe this" and think can I seriously be beat by a straight flush? and he flips over quad 7's. with neither of us having a pair on the board. so sick and the whole table is amazed for about two levels and i am happy to be chipped up to about 18k and above average and thinking about coasting to Day 2.

We get to the last 8 hands on the night and I am holding onto about 17k and we are playing omaha. In the last 6 hands of the day I get aces twice and flop seats both times only to get called down and lose to flushes and then the last hand of the day I flop top set with QQ only to get beat by a runner runner flush and a runner runner low. sets suck in omaha. so I enter Day 2 with a measley 6500, half average with limits about to be 600/1200.

1st hand of Day 2, (LHE) it's folded to me OTB with KQc. I raise to 1200 and the BB calls. flop xxQ. I bet he calls. turn x. I bet he calls. river J, I bet he calls with QJ and rake the pot crippling me to about 2k. I fight to stay between 4k and 7k for about 2 hours but ultimately go out about 15-20 spots from the money when I lose a race with QQ < AK in the HE round. gg me. But had fun and am unfortunately back in jersey now. Peace out,

dwal

New Regimen

So since the marathon I have slacked a bit, and May was pretty bad. Since the summer of dwal is quickly approaching, I have decided I must workout every day of June until Vegas (6/23) and the goal is lose 10 pounds by then. After being down to 185 at marathon-time, I am up now to between 200-205. A workout constitutes at least 5 exercises at the gym, 3 sets each, plus abs and >15 minutes of cardio, running at least 3 miles, or biking at least 8 miles. The first 3 days have so far been a success and i hope to keep it up and might even work out a few days while in vegas (doubtful).

As far as poker goes, my nights are free again with the BBT3 over. Didn't do as well as I would have liked, but I am in the ToC, and will be winning my Main Event seat on Saturday. Booked a $300 win at the hailme home game and probably heading to AC or a home game after the ToC win on sat to help expand the roll for Vegas. If I dont win my way into the ME, I will be playing at least Event 43 and Event 51. Peace out.

BBT/fishcakes

Both are finishing up this week. Al did an amazing job so thank you for running this great series and thanks to Full Tilt for donating all the prizes. So I am currently sitting at 9th on the BBT leaderboard. I thought I would be better, and it will be tough to make it to the top 5 to get money, but I guess I can't complain about a free FT jersey. I hope I am able to play/run well in the TOC and hopefully procure my WSOP ME seat, or at least a 2k seat if I get 3rd or 4th.

But most importantly the fishcakes. After a nice 4th place finish in the Mookie on Thursday I put myself in decent shape to place in this thing. I am currently in 3rd place, 12 points behind the hated Lucko, and 2 points behind RecessRampage for 2nd. Should be an interesting final week and I am looking forward to the come from behind win!

On the working out front, after 3 weeks of slacking I finally had a good week. I guess playing less poker can be good for you. ran 3 miles tuesday and 4 thursday and went to the gym twice. I will probably sign up for the Atlantic City half marathon soon, because I always seem to do better when I am training for something.

Jogblog

Ran 5 miles this morning, which is the most I have run since the marathon . Was pretty tired but ran it in 47:24 so about 9:20 miles, which isnt great, but better then I thought. Hopefully I get back into shape soon.

On the poker front, been in a rut lately. I havent been playing as much, because when I get in these I usually play my C game and even when I have played well the beats have come. So I'm going to lay back a bit, and just play in the BBT events and some of the steps on stars for the next few weeks.

Foxwoods/BBT

Went Foxwoods this past weekend for the WPT prelim events and hung with lucko and Lj. Fun times. got there Thurs night and wasnt sure if I wanted to play the 1k friday. Sat in 2/5 and was up exactly 1k in about 5 hours of play so figured what the hell and signed up.

1k was decent structure. 50 min blinds, starting stacks of 6k. ~Doubled semi early with a flopped set of 2's against JJ. Then didn't have to show down another hand until Level 4 (25 ante 100/200) and I had 15k in chips, which was the most at my table. I get KK in EP and raise to 700, get 3 callers MP, CO, BB.

Flop K Q T rainbow. I dont like it, but i'm not getting away. I bet out 2k, CO shoves for about 9k. I call, he tables A6d (no diamnd on board) and i am very happy, thinking he had AJ. Of course J comes on river and i am crippled. I fight around for about another level and then lose JJ < AQ. I then start drinking pretty heavily and end up later at a drunk 1/2 table with sucko and LJ. I play awfully and have some pretty sick suckouts. Still only end up about +100 at the table. We grab some food and more booze and I go to bed. I wake up and hang in the room for a few hours and head over to the casino at 11ish. I am hungry and text sucko and he says he will be over at noonish so I hang and play blackjack for a bit. Lose about 600. We grab some food and get back and realize the wait for most things is 100 people deep. We catch a 1/2 PLO/PLO8 game with a seat open and sucko sits and get next. Short while later I get my seat. I get nothing and go down to about 200. Then all of a sudden the table agrees to up to 2/5. Shortly after I go on a sick rush and get up to 1600 or so when this hand happens. Button is the only one at the table who has me covered

So I get AKQQds(no spades)
2 limpers to me and i go to 25 in MP. Button calls, both limpers call

Flop: T J Q (wow dreamy). limper 1 bets 60 L2 folds, I raise to 200, button pots, I repot and it gets in. obv spade hits turn I dont fill up and I lose a 3600 pot. He had AK with nut spade redraw so cant blame him either.

So lose the biggest cash pot I have ever played and dont tilt too badly and buy back in. Game breaks shortly after and I head over to 2/5 NL. 3rd hand I win a big pot with set over set and end up up 1k. So all in all I leave Foxwoods about even.

BBT: Been donking a bit lately. Made an awful AI call with A7 in B v B when I guy had 3 bet me a bunch of time in a row. Also lost with middle set to top set in O8 last night when i should have been able to slow down. my bad.

Been running a bit lately. Sucks that I ran 26.2 miles 4 months ago and now get winded running 3. Oh well, i'll be back in shape in a few months i hope

Peace out yo

Freeroll

Battle of the Bloggers

Easter Extravaganza

Since my family isn't big into Easter, decided to head to Borgata for the Easter Extravangaza. $300 + 40, 30 minute levels, 10k chips to start. (110 entered, about 10k 1st) I play very tight the first few levels and never have to show down and get my stack up to about 14k. Table full of absolute stations like your typical Borg Tourney. Blinds are 100/200 and I am in the BB. UTG + 1 (has me covered) raises to 800 and 2 callers in MP and LP, I look down and see KdKh. I pop to 3100, and UTG + 1 shoves. 2 folds, I call. He shows JJ and flop comes 9TJ. No help and I am out after about 2 hours which sucks. Would have had a nice stack too.

I take a quick walk to compose myself and go over to 2/5 NL. They seat me between two friends, to my left has about 3k, to my right has about 4500 (500 max buy-in). To my right is raising every hand (thats my job asshole!) and I get nothing to play back at and they leave after about 20 hands and I haven't played a single hand yet. About 1 round later, I pick up AJh in MP. I raise to 25, new guy to my immediate left goes to 55, CO calls, rest fold. I call the small raise, and the flop comes QcThKh. Wow broadway with nut flush draw, not a bad flop. I have about 470, to my left has about $300, CO has me covered. CO donk bets 200 into the 180 or so pot and i get mad i have to shove and cant get some of 3 betters money as well. He flips AK! Way to play awful buddy!

No more major hands, I start to raise 50% or so, and often get 4 callers who all fold to my cbets with nothing. I leave with about $1700 for about a 1200 profit in only about 3 hours. so up a little more then 800 for the trip. Cant complain.

Happy Easter!

ESPN Mens Tournament Challenge
group: waldstein
password: dwal

Try to get me money before first game (Thursday) if you are interested. If I dont know you personally make sure to let me know your entry name so I know who all the participants are. Usually get 40-50 entries but hoping for more this year.

As far as poker goes, havent been playing too much lately. Final Tables a PLO and got 7th on FT for like $200 after having a huge chip lead. Then was chip leader for 2 hours in the 10k guaranteed and ended up bubbling after losing most of my stack with KK vs AA. Had I won that hand I would have had double anyone else with like 50 left. In the Blogger Tourney's I got 16th on Thurs which really sucked for side bets sake. I shoved a huge draw with AQc into TT on a TK2 board with two clubs. Oh well, sucks to me me like always.

Peace out yo

SHIT!

I just made a post on my blog about how bloggers suck at poker in blogger tournaments. Is this really what my life has become? Not sure what is sadder,

a) that I have a blog
b) that people are reading/have read my blog
c) that people commented about my blog post in my blog about bloggers playing badly in blogger tourneys

Bloggers?

I'm amazed that the play is so bad in these tourneys. Does everyone who plays have a blog about poker? I would assume that at the worst everyone in these has to at least read about poker right? How can anyone be open limping on the button if they know anything about poker? How can anyone call bets ~late in the tourney with 2 BB behind if they know anything about poker? I have seen both these things happen multiple times in the 4 tourneys I played that I wanted to play in and I just dont get it.

It doesn't seem to be the people who know everyone who suck the most, so i guess that makes sense but as an "up and coming" blogger i felt it needed to be said. But I hope the poeple that suck continue to suck. Ans side note, I hear that all the cool bloggers link to a lot of blogs so if you want me to link to your blog, let me know. God, this blogging shit is dumb and i barely know how to form a sentence but anyway, fun stuff. Peace out.

Bubble Master

First two Blogger tourney I got LB points but bubbled just out of the money. Sunday got 20th and top 18 paid. Shoved with AQ, ran into KK, nothing I could have done.

And then last night (Monday) in the 6-max I overplayed an OESD with only one card to play because a big stack who was playing very unorthodox looked weak to me with a turn lead on a 567J rainbow board and i thought he would fold to my shove. He had a set so I guess it was a mistake, but not sure if thats ROT though.

Been a fun few tourneys so far, I wish they started earlier because I wake up at 5 for work and all. Tonight is stud and I assume my edge will be greater in the non NLHE games being the master HORSE player I am. LOL

Blogger Tourneys

Obviously no one reads my blog, but I think I'm going to play in this on FT. Could be a sweet way to win some WSOP seats and shit. Go me! If anyone sees me on IM or anything and i forget to play in any please remind me to play because i can be dumb sometimes

Bubble in Borgata Presidents Day 1k

So had off today and decided to hit up the Borgata for the 1k + 100 at 11 a.m. Get down there just in time for the first hand. The start is not kind to me as I don't get a playable hand until the last hand before the end of level 2 (40 minute levels). About midway through level 3 I win a few nice pots with my only showdown being Jacks vs. tens and I am up to about 26k. Then there are about 5 minutes left before the first break when I get TT in MP. Blinds 100/200 and I raise a limper to 800. Limper calls and we get a flop of JQ4 with 2 clubs. I c-bet 1300 and he calls. The turn brings a red ten to give me the set. I bet 2600 and he calls. River is a sick K and he open shoves for about 9k. I have about 10k behind and tank pretty badly. I have him on a busted club draw but did it include an A. I really dont think so but dont think I can call more then pot and lay down. He shows 9T of hearts so good laydown dwal. Should have been easy fold but i just didnt think he had the A.

So I still am in good shape and we start losing people. (120 started, 18 pay, 1st 37k)

I start getting a lot more active and work up my stack to about 50k which is probably about average with 21 left with 3 tables of 7 (1k/2k blinds, 300 ante). I get 88 in MP and pop to 5k. CO calls, Button calls, BB calls. WTF. I mean the play was bad but this is ridiculous. flop comes Q94 rainbow. I am a puss and dont c-bet into 3 callers and it gets checked around. 8 peel on the turn to give me the set. BB bets 5k, I raise to 14k CO shoves (and has me covered) 2 folds, I instacall and he tables KTd which is a gutshot and a flush draw he picked up on the turn. The guttie hits and I am gone in 20th for a bubble that is hard to swallow. I probably should have cbet the flop there but didnt want to do it into 3 players. Cant believe this fucker flat calls a raise with KTs on the bubble.

Oh well so goes it. I win that pot I have over 100k and can bully the shit out of the table.

I suck at BR management!

Ok I have no business having 11k online. Played some 100/200 O8b and did ok, but got killed in 10/20 PLO8 and lost about 3k the past 2 days. Took 70% of it offline because i have no BR management skills. So going to lay low for a few days and just play in the TPOAPC and maybe some small stakes NL cash. If you see me at FT playing dumb stakes, please yell at me.

Borgata Poker Open

Ok all my faithful readers (both of them), I am back. So I went and met roddy and lucko at the Borgata last weekend and planned on playing some cash and maybe the $1500 event on sat. Got down there late Friday night and played a bit of 2/5 NL, ended up down about $600, when some crazy Norwegian guy sucked out on me twice. AA < K4s and another crappy hand i dont remember. I still play the event saturday anyway on no sleep.

I stay pretty much avergae stack throughout Day 1, and play really tight and pretty much double once an hour to stay alive. At about 1:00 a.m., we finally make the money after some very slow hand for hand play. We end Day 1 about 30 minutes later, and I bag 123k in chips, which is almost exactly average with 39 left. I go over and look at the payouts, and see that 1st is 207k, which would be nice. I rail LJ and have a few drinks, and bet every flop at a random table red/black with sucko for $100. I am up 200 but then we start flipping coins and a miraculous 7 tails in a row hit and i end up down $500. LJ chops the second chance with a monster stack for 12k.

I get a few hours sleep and come back around noon (play starts at 2:00) and grab some food. I start at table 1 with two small stacks behind me, and the big stack pretty far away.
I proceed to run over the table, and in the first level back, I go from 123k to about 320k without showing down a handand soon after we are down to 27 and redraw for new seats. I move to table 3 and my luck quickly changes. Every raise gets repopped, and quite quickly, I am back to under 200k. Card-deadness (yes its a word now) kicks in and i start to get blinded down. Luckily, we get down to 18 so we can re-draw for seats so hopefully i can get some cards. No such luck, I get blinded down to about 60k which is about 5 BB's and make a bad RR shove with no fold equity. I end up in 16th for about 5k. Pissed but still my first big cash in a big event like that.

To add to it, monday night I get 2nd in a 120+9 on Full Tilt for about 4700. I got into HU with a 3:1 chip lead but A7< K7 and then K8< Q7 and I get 2nd and yell at my computer.

On the running front, since the marathon, I have slacked, but have been lifting and hopefully will pick the running back up when the weather gets nicer. Peace out.
